Some Summer Garden & Home Maintenance Tips

Now that we’re halfway through summer, you’ll want to maintain your home and yard for the continuing heat. From HVAC upkeep to the appearance of your front yard, these simple tips will keep your home healthy, happy and safe.
1. By now, your summer annual flower beds could use a little ‘pick me up’. Make sure you provide them (and your lawn) a minimum of 1 inch of water per week. Deadhead spent blooms and nourish them with a water soluble ‘bloom builder’ fertilizer. To make weeding easier and following a summer rain shower, pull at undesirable growth, remove dead plants and check for pests.
2. The best thing you can do to keep your air conditioner running at peak performance is to replace or clean your air filters. While on the subject of filters, don’t forget to thoroughly clean your clothes dryer’s lint trap. And check your stove for grease accumulation. Together, they are the leading causes of home fires!
With these simple tasks in hand: Slow down and enjoy the remaining days of summer!
